inspiration, christmas...

forgive the graininess of these pictures, they are scans of photos that i dug out yesterday as i began considering our decorations for the season...

it's ever so hot here at christmas time so we like to keep it simple...

this is our christmas table from a few years ago, i loved the simplicity of the berries against the white... the garlands are artificial, but are of lovely quality (in just the right red!)

the idea for the cutlery holders came from a then current issue of donna hay magazine... they said "eat drink be merry..."

these little boxes were filled with jocelyn's panforte...

i'm so looking forward to celebrating with my family and to spending time on simple crafting with miss a... one of her favourite activities at the moment is to wrap things up like presents, which of course delights me no end!

and i'm thrilled that it's an overcast and grey day here,

we are going to pretend we live in the northern hemisphere,

for a few hours at least...

absolutely gorgeous images! I have to admit, it would feel strange to be in a hot climate at christmastime, but only because I'm always been in cold weather that time of the year. I love the simplicity of your decorations, they would work in any temperature.

I wanted to let you know when you posted about that book "Creating Your Perfect Christmas" (I think that's the name, its upstairs at the moment), I immediately ordered. It came last week and I've been loving it every since. Thanks for the inspiration!

Here (in San Francisco) we are having a real cold snap. It feels like the holidays. (Great knitting weather. ) But the funny thing, that your blog is such an illustration of, is that the spirit transcends the weather. Your table is beautiful! I am busy wrapping with buttons, based on your wonderful images.

Those table settings are just so beautiful, and the berry garland perfect!

Hope you've had a lovely day, it's been really hot here all week, but the clouds finally rolled in this afternoon - aaah! xo

yes, so lovely.

this will be my first non-white christmas! it's sort of strange. i really am used to a good amount of snow and it's not looking likely to have any at all here!

In Dallas, Texas we had ice and snow today. I worked on the computer in front of fireplace today - feeling safe and warm - while the once or maybe twice a winter storm blew.

Your pictures put me in the mood to decorate.. i fonly in my mind for right now. Hugs, ksb

Fair enough. In turn, I'll pretend I'm sitting at your table in the southern hemisphere, enjoying the beautiful decorations and warm weather!

Those place settings are so beautiful - I love the cutlery holders. Christmas is strange here: lots of decorations and carols in the shops, but then on the 25th it all gets pulled down to make way for new year decorations.

wow sarah! simple, but not lacking in any amount of elegance, i love it!

things are heating up here, glad to be having a summery christmas (my first!) :) so we can pretend about that northern hemi together (just for a wee bit)
