tiger tea party...

when our darling little moo turned two on sunday, we had a small family celebration inspired by her favourite book...

but no matter how small the party is you always have to have balloons,

and cake,

and cupcakes,

and lollies!

the tiger cake design came from the 1970's edition of the Australian Women's Weekly birthday cake book (thanks mum), my sister made the gorgeous cupcakes (Donna Hay Kids #1) and the animal balloons are in Martha Stewart Kids (spring 2005)

Oh my gosh! We LOVE that book! I didn't know anyone else had ever heard of it! We found it at the library a few weeks ago and my two-year-old daughter still wonders what would happen if a tiger came to tea!

Hope you had a great day! Everything looked fantastic. My little one turned two in April and this year felt better and less-stressed than the first.
All the best and love the blog.

What a great looking party! I'm a sucker for a good theme and this is one of our family's fav. books too. I used to be able to recite it by heart - quite a party trick!

Wow! So great. I love the simplicity of the balloon, the layers in the cake and the patience it took to make those cupcakes. Roar!

Happy Birthday to your little one.

I remember the WW book of Birthday Cakes and would spend ages looking through it.

Oh, I had one of those tiger cakes when I was growing up... that cookbook was/is the ultimate Birthday book! I think we went through almost every single cake in that book, the piano, the train... thanks for reminding me to dig it out.
